| Querétaro, one of the gems of the Hispanic colonial heartland, was founded in 1541 as the Spanish moved north from Tenochitlan. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Niels' house was built around 1730 by Jesuits (before they were booted out from New Spain), the same period as most of the buildings in the historic centro of the city.
